The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has completed a thorough investigation into the misconduct of Ms. Puja Manorama Dilip Khedkar, a candidate provisionally recommended from the Civil Services Examination-2022. The investigation revealed that she fraudulently exceeded the permissible attempt limit as per Examination Rules by falsifying her identity, including her name, parents’ names, photograph, signature, email ID, mobile number, and address.
Consequently, UPSC has taken decisive actions against her, including initiating Criminal Prosecution through the filing of a First Information Report (FIR) with the Police Authorities. Additionally, UPSC has issued a Show Cause Notice (SCN) proposing the cancellation of her candidature for the Civil Services Examination-2022 and her debarment from future examinations or selections, in accordance with the Civil Services Examination-2022 Rules.
It is emphasized that UPSC, in fulfilling its Constitutional responsibilities, maintains rigorous adherence to its mandate. All its processes, including examinations, are conducted with the highest standards of due diligence, ensuring the integrity and fairness of every stage as per the prescribed Rules.
UPSC has earned a significant level of trust and credibility from the public, particularly from candidates. The Commission remains unequivocally committed to preserving this trust and credibility at the highest level, without compromise.

It is a constitutional body in India that is responsible for conducting recruitment examinations and selecting candidates for various civil services and central government posts. Some of the prestigious examinations conducted by UPSC include the Civil Services Examination (for IAS, IPS, IFS, and other Group A and Group B services), Engineering Services Examination, Combined Defence Services Examination, National Defence Academy Examination, and many others.
The UPSC conducts these examinations following a rigorous and transparent process to ensure that candidates are selected based on merit and suitability for the positions. What is the Age Limit for UPSC?
The age limits for UPSC examinations vary depending on the specific examination and the category of candidates (like General, OBC, SC/ST, etc.). Here are some general guidelines for the Civil Services Examination (as of my last update):
- For the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Indian Police Service (IPS):
- Minimum Age: 21 years
- Maximum Age: 32 years
- Age Relaxation: There are relaxations in the upper age limit for candidates belonging to certain categories, such as SC/ST, OBC, etc.
- For other services like Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Revenue Service (IRS), etc.:
- Age limits and relaxations can vary slightly from the above, but generally follow a similar pattern.
It’s important to note that these age limits are subject to change based on UPSC notifications. Candidates are advised to regularly check the official UPSC website or the latest notifications for specific age limit details for each examination they are interested in.
