05.05.2018: Shri Ram Vilas Paswan, Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution said that the Center is taking various steps to help the sugar industry dealing with the depression and problems in the sugar market, whereas the situation of sugar-locking has been adversely affected, to increase the sugarcane prices, 19,000 crores.

Union cabinet gets Rs. In order to compensate sugar factories for sugar mills, sugar factories were given 5.50 per quintal canes in the sugar factories in 2017-18 to sugar factories. Further, in order to clear dues and encourage additional sugar exports through the sugar factories, the Government has allowed the duty-free import authority (DFI) scheme in relation to sugar.

In order to boost ethanol, there was a proposal to reduce goods and service tax slabs. The GST Council recommended a reduction of 18% to 5% in the ethanol tax rate at a meeting held in New Delhi. Mr. Paswan was speaking at a press conference in Mumbai today.

Mr. Paswan appreciates the Maharashtra Government for his work, as 50 lakh fake ration cards have been exhausted and only real beneficiaries have got ration.
